Thursday Night 2/1/07
Environment: -- NOT trendy by any means. Big and functional, probably a 50 by 30 dance floor.
(Actually there are two dance floors but no one was dancing on the second floor which was playing Latin music all night.)
Got more and more crowded as night progressed (opened at 10pm) but never got too crowded. I liked the fact that there was always room to move on the dance floor.
Crowd: Mainly 20 something and older, mainly Latin American crowd. Not that many 18-20 year olds, and even a few 30-50 sprinkled in here and there. Good mixture of guys and girls after about 10:30 or so. By 11pm things were starting to get busy. Lots of couples (mainly grindin' on the dance floor) and lots of groups (all girls and a few mixed sex groups) circle dancin'. Maybe 50/50 couples and groups. There were a few hip hop guys dancin' alone/together in the mix.
Not a stand around crowd, people started dancing shortly after the club opened. Of course this club had its share of creepy guys standing around trying to pick up on and staring at girls, but more of a dance crowd than creeps.
Music: Started off playing Latin/Spanish pop/hip-hop and I thought it was going to be nothing but that all night. But it was good dancing music so I didn't mind. Then after about 45 minutes started playing predominantly American pop/hip-hop. Good selection of music. Good dance music, both Latin and American.
Overall Final Analysis: Good place to dance, if you want to dance and your date doesn't mind a North Hollywood non-trendy atmosphere. Too creepy for a girl to go there alone or perhaps even too creepy with just one friend. Probably OK if you go there as a large group of girls. Probably too creepy for upscale guys, unless you like to dance and have a date. If you are kind of creepy/lonely guy yourself and don't have a lot of money, probably a good place to hang out.
Overall, I like to dance, so I would definitely go there again for the music and dancing (but not the atmosphere.) My date liked the dancing too and the fact that she was out with a guy and none of the guys hit up on her as they usually do when she is out with just girlfriends.
