On December 14, 2004, POW! Entertainment, Inc. (Pink Sheets: POWN) and Celebrities In Action, Inc. announced their first joint venture project, a multi-faceted development, production, and distribution agreement to produce animated programming and merchandise based on the premise of well-known celebrities in competition against characters from other worlds.
Now, their second project is temporarily called "The Fantasy Zone." It is based on the premise of a parallel universe where celebrities can go to live out their own fantasies and dreams.
The project is to include animated direct-to-DVD's, feature films, video games, apparel and publishing, as well as other consumer products.
POW!'s Stan Lee, says, "Now fans can see what their favorite celebrities secretly aspire to be, giving us insight into the dreams and aspirations they would have if they had not already become famous."
"This new story line, the second in our joint venture with CIA, can broaden our base and give celebrities the opportunity to play out the vision of their own secret fantasies," says Gill Champion, COO of POW!
POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment, Inc. was founded by legendary comic book icon Stan Lee, together with Gill Champion and Arthur Lieberman. Stan Lee, creator and popularizer of the modern superhero, will head the artistic and creative aspects of the animated project.
A prolific author, Lee revolutionized the comic book industry by creating compelling characters who, despite extraordinary powers and talents, are none the less plagued by the same doubts and difficulties experienced by ordinary people. Some of his most enduring characters, like Spider-Man (R), The Hulk (R), and X-Men (R) have been spun off into television programs and feature films that have grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.
He is also credited with co-creating Dare Devil(R), Iron Man(R), Silver Surfer(R), The Fantastic Four(R) and many other world-famous characters. Stan Lee is a global icon whose body of work is enjoyed by every generation on every continent, with his name on over 2 Billion books and comic books.
Stan Medley and Chris Nassif of CIA will head business development and talent management along with Lara Blume who will handle celebrity relations.
POW and CIA are presently scheduled to commence production on the second project by summer of 2005.
